A woman has appeared in court after being charged following a fire at a flat.
Emergency services were called to Green Lane, Clifton, after receiving reports of a fire.
Firefighters quickly put out the blaze, which caused damage to the inside of the flat on 28 June 2022.
A woman was also taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
Alisha Woodcock, 24, has since been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Appearing before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (8 July), Woodcock pleaded not guilty to the charge.
She is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 5 August 2022 and has been remanded into custody until then.
Detective Inspector Daniel Johnstone, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely serious incident which could have quite easily ended in tragedy.
“It is only down to sheer luck and the rapid response of the emergency services that this fire didn’t lead to loss of life and more severe damage to both the flat and surrounding properties.
“Arson can have a catastrophic impact on so many lives, which is why we’re so committed to thoroughly investigating all reports of this nature that we receive.
“We have now charged a suspect in connection with this incident and they have now appeared before the courts.”
