A terrified woman was punched to the floor after finding two masked burglars in her bedroom.
The 30-year-old victim was at home on her own when she heard a noise upstairs.
Thinking it was her dog, she went to check whether something had fallen and was horrified when she found two men searching her bedside tables.
One of the burglars then punched her in the face and she fell backwards to the floor.
The men grabbed Pandora jewellery worth £700 and fled through a small hole in the fence at the end of her back garden.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the burglary, which happened at around 4pm on Wednesday (12 May) in Mottram Road in Chilwell.
The first burglar was described as white, 5ft 10ins, slim build and with bushy eyebrows. He was wearing black jogging bottoms and a hoodie.
The second burglar was white and of slim build. He was wearing black camo trousers and a hooded top.
The victim said they both had their hoods up and spoke with a local accent.
Detective Sergeant Gary Hewson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and she was left with significant bruising and swelling to her left cheek.
“The victim has walked into her bedroom and seen two men, one on either side of the bed going through her bedside tables.
“The man closest punched her in the face and she fell to the floor. The suspects then stepped over her and ran downstairs before leaving via a back door.
“The victim then saw them flee via a small hole in the bush at the end of her back garden, which leads on to Cator Lane North.
“We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing these two men. Burglary is a particularly upsetting and invasive crime which can leave victims feeling unsafe in their own homes. Therefore it is vital we apprehend these two men and bring them to justice.
“Meanwhile neighbourhood officers have been made aware of the incident and will conduct patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”
Anyone with information which may help the investigation is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 572 of 12 May 2021. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
