Woman robbed on a Nottingham tram – man arrested

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 850 of 29 June.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a woman had her bag and purse stolen as she travelled on a tram in Hyson Green.

Nottinghamshire Police were called at around 10:55pm on Monday 29 June to reports of the incident at the Hyson Green tram stop.

It is reported that a man took the bag just before leaving the tram and heading towards The Forest Recreation Ground using a nearby alleyway.

While in police custody, the man was further arrested for recall to prison and in connection with a shop theft from the Co-Op store at Nottingham Train Station on Wednesday 1 July.

Detective Sergeant Simon Carter, who is leading the investigation, said: “This arrest is a positive step in our investigation after what will have no doubt been a frightening experience for the victim in this case.

“We continue to do everything we can to investigate incidents of this nature as thoroughly as possible to ensure that we can bring those responsible to justice.

“The man remains in police custody while detectives continue their enquiries.”
