Woman stabbed in the back at a Nottingham house

A suspect has appeared in court after a woman was stabbed in the back at a house in Nottingham. 

Officers were called to an address in Cedar Road, Forest Fields, at around 3.15am yesterday (Friday 11 March 2022).

The victim, a 58-year-old woman, remains in hospital. Her injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Police arrested a woman at the scene in connection with the incident.

Marie Byrne, aged 51, of Cedar Road, Forest Fields, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday 12 March 2022) charged with attempted murder.

She was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 11 April 2022.

Detective Constable Louise Fowkes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This incident occurred in a house and involved people known to each other.

“Police and paramedics were on scene quickly to attend to the victim and made an arrest.

“I am pleased we have now been able to bring a charge in this case which is a significant step in our ongoing investigation. We are providing support to the victim and those affected by this incident.

“I would like to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police takes knife crime extremely seriously.

The force will investigate reports and continues to do everything in its power to keep people safe, prevent incidents from occurring and crack down on weapon-enabled crime.”
