Woman tries to steal dog-walker’s dog as he walks it outside a police station

A struggle happened, before the dog walker was threatened and punched in the face.

A woman has been arrested after trying to steal a dog outside a police station.

The dog walker was approached by a man and woman who asked about the animal and stroked the dog, before making accusations that the pet was being mistreated.

It was reported that the woman then grabbed hold of the dog’s lead, trying to pull it away from the victim.

He then rang for police, who quickly made the arrest out Mansfield Police Station.

Inspector Nick Butler, district commander for Ashfield, said: “At around 6pm on Thursday, the woman tried to take a man’s dog off him whilst he walked it outside the police station.

“The victim was punched to the face twice and he was threatened.

“Officers were swiftly on the scene to make the arrest after the man called out for help.

“A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. She remains in police custody.

“The victim suffered minor injuries to his hand and wrists.

“Nottinghamshire Police takes theft extremely seriously and will investigate all reports thoroughly.”
