A homeowner woke up up to find an intruder in her garden.
It is reported that she heard her dog barking in the early hours of the morning and looked outside to see a boy in her front garden during a suspected burglary.
Her letterbox was also found to be on the floor.
Officers investigating have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the incident, which happened at around 3am on Thursday 29 July 2021, in Sutton Avenue, Newark-on-Trent.
He has since been bailed with conditions.
Detective Inspector Mike Ebbins, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It was quite a shock for this woman to see someone in her garden in the early hours of the morning. The suspect ran off after being disturbed but following some dedicated detective work we were able to make an arrest.
“A 17-year-old was arrested and interviewed as part of our investigation and officers continue to work hard to establish the circumstances around what happened.
“Local officers will be out proactively patrolling the area and available to speak to about any concerns or information people might have.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information, or anyone who witnessed the incident, to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 63 of 29 July 2021.”
