An unlicensed driver who took his girlfriend’s car without her permission got into further hot water when he had to tell her police had seized it.
Police officers were on patrol in Wollaton when they spotted a man driving a car that was registered to a woman.
The car was being driven erratically in Trowell Road and so they decided to pull the driver over.
The 34-year-old confessed he had taken the car without his girlfriend’s permission and that he did not have a license or insurance.
Officers seized the car and summoned the man to court for both offences, as well as taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
The car was stopped shortly before 3pm on Monday 23 August.
PC Jamie Martin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It was quickly apparent that this vehicle was not with its registered keeper.
“The car was being driven erratically and that made us suspicious – with good reason as it turned out.
“Whenever we are on duty we are constantly hunting out any criminality, and if we identify you as committing an offence, you will be dealt with robustly.”
