Women charged after altercation at a Bingham bar

Two women have been charged following an altercation at a Nottinghamshire bar last night, where an off-duty police officer was assaulted.

A 34-year-old women has been charged on two counts of assault and one for criminal damage, while another woman, aged 28, has been cautioned following the alleged incident at a bar in Market Square in Bingham, which happened at 11 pm on Friday 11 June.

Bar staff had been dealing with an argument involving their staff and other drinkers and while trying to eject people from the premises a fight broke out, with the 34-year old woman allegedly assaulting an off-duty female officer. The officer was not seriously injured.

Officers arrested the two women after being called to the premises.

Sergeant Elizabeth Johnson, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers worked swiftly to arrest those allegedly involved in this incident and we are grateful to the public in supporting our investigations by providing evidence.

“Any assault on a member of the public will not be tolerated and nor is it acceptable for any assaults on officers, who are on or off duty.

“We are still looking for another man connected with the brawl, so if anyone has any further information regarding the incident please contact 101 quoting incident number 1006 on 11th June 2021.”
