£220,000 cannabis factory found across two Nottinghamshire properties

Two suspects have appeared in court after police found cannabis plants spread across two properties.

Reports came in on Wednesday (3 December) that alterations had been made to the electric system at a property in Newcastle Avenue, Worksop.

Local response and neighbourhood officers conducted a search of the address at 12.30pm and soon discovered a cannabis grow.

They then uncovered a hole in the wall of adjoining flats which led them to further plants next-door.

In total, 220 plants were found across seven rooms and two suspects were arrested at the scene.

Dung Nguyen, aged 51, of no fixed address, has been charged with production of the Class B drug cannabis.

Van Nguyen, aged 59, of no fixed address, has also been charged with production of the Class B drug cannabis.

Both appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 5 December and have been remanded in custody until their next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 5 January.

Sergeant Mark Talbot, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Cannabis grows have the potential to attract violent crime and antisocial behaviour.

“They can also pose a significant fire risk to adjoining properties.

“We’re therefore very pleased to have been able to take action in this instance and put two suspects before the courts.”
