The next episode of 24 Hours in A&E, filmed at our Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, airs on Tuesday 14 February, 9 pm, on Channel 4.
This episode follows the stories of people who depend on loved ones who have been there when it truly matters.
46-year-old Sara is rushed to QMC after a high-speed car crash, her husband Glen was driving. As his injuries are treated, doctors have concerns for Sara’s serious head and chest injuries. Glen looks back at their life together and being childhood sweethearts. As their daughter, Lauren, waits anxiously at home for news, we hear how important her mum was for her as she tried to come to terms with the trauma of the Manchester arena bombing.
54-year-old Simon has come into the emergency department after falling off his bike on his way to buy a helmet. While his injuries are being assessed and treated, his condition deteriorates. Simon looks back on his past and talks of bringing up his two sons, the most important part of his life, and the things he wishes he could have done differently.
In paediatrics, dad Chris has brought in 16-year-old son James after he severed his finger climbing a fence. Whilst doctors try to save his finger, James talks of the love he has for his dad and the time he could have lost him forever.
We also hear from Major Trauma Fellow, Jeet, now a regular face from the series, and Pam Farnsworth, one of our Emergency Nurse Practitioners.
A total of 24 episodes were filmed for this new series. This will be the final episode in the first batch, with the series continuing later this year.
