The City Council has begun a recruitment drive for new roles at Nottingham Castle, ready for its reopening in June.
The council announced recently that the castle, closed since November after Nottingham Castle Trust went into liquidation, would reopen its gates to the public in June – with a series of preview events planned for May.
Now 41 new jobs have been advertised for the City Council’s operation of the castle, including site manager, operations manager, visitor assistant and roles in catering and retail. Anyone interested in the roles can search and apply for them here: View jobs and apply here.
Nottingham City Council’s Director for Sport & Culture, Hugh White, said:
“We’re pleased about the reopening of Nottingham Castle and that as part of this great news, we can announce a number of fantastic job opportunities.
“This is a great chance to be involved in the next exciting part of this landmark site’s 1,000-year history. There are great new features on site since the redevelopment, including the new Robin Hood Adventures and Rebellion Galleries and Hoods Hideout Adventure Playground, and we’re developing a programme of events to attract local people and visitors from far and wide.
• Eurovision Song Contest 2023 to be shown live at Nottingham Castle
• Nottingham Castle reopens this June with new prices and a live stream of King’s Coronation
“We are looking for people with passion and enthusiasm for Nottingham and its rich history, and an ability to convey that to our customers. We would welcome applications from anyone who has worked previously at the Castle.”
The castle will operate as part of the council’s well-established Museums & Galleries service, which runs Wollaton Hall and Newstead Abbey and has run the site previously. It has the skills, specialist knowledge and cultural partnership connections to quickly mobilise and successfully animate the site with a programme of activities.
Preview events scheduled to take place in the castle grounds in May will kick off on the Coronation Weekend on May 6 and 7, with screenings of the King’s Coronation on the Saturday and the Coronation Concert on the Sunday. Full details will follow in due course.
