Dozens of new ambulances have entered service across the East Midlands as part of continued investment in the region’s emergency fleet.
East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) said 58 new ambulances were now in operation, increasing the number of vehicles available to frontline crews.
A further 60 ambulances are expected to be delivered between November 2026 and March 2027. These vehicles will replace older ambulances rather than add to the overall fleet.
EMAS said replacing ageing vehicles would reduce the time ambulances spend undergoing maintenance and repairs, helping ensure they remain available to respond to patients.
The investment comes as demand for ambulance services continues to grow across the region.
Steve Farnsworth, assistant director for operational support services at EMAS, said: “When someone calls 999, they expect us to have the right people, equipment and vehicles available to help them.
“These new ambulances will support our crews as they continue providing urgent and emergency care to patients and communities across the East Midlands every day.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming more vehicles into the fleet over the coming months.”
