£600,000 cannabis factory found in derelict Nottingham warehouse

Two men were arrested as police discovered a large cannabis factory in a residential street in Nottingham.

Officers attended a derelict warehouse in Edwin Street, Daybrook, at 12.20pm on Tuesday 27 February.

The unit adjoins a row of terraced houses and concerns were raised after cables were spotted bypassing an electric meter – posing a fire risk.

Officers gained entry to the warehouse and found approximately 600 plants spread over four large rooms.

Moments later, an officer spotted two men on the roof. They jumped down and ran but were quickly detained by officers.

The plants, with a street value of more than £600,000, have now been removed from the site and an array of sophisticated growing equipment has been put beyond use.

The two men, aged 20 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and taken into custody.
