Nottingham will celebrate Notts County’s promotion to Sky Bet League One at a special homecoming event tomorrow (Tuesday 26 May) at Old Market Square following the club’s victory in today’s Play Off Final against Salford City at Wembley.
Players and club officials will take to the Council House balcony to show off the trophy as part of the celebrations.
Tomorrow’s event will start at 3pm at Old Market Square, and supporters are asked to arrive no earlier than 2pm to ensure there is time for preparations to be made.
The celebration is designed to be a family event, taking place during school half term. Strictly no alcohol, flares, pyrotechnics or smoke bombs are permitted onto the square.
As the hot weather is set to continue tomorrow, attendees are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen and bring water bottles – there will be a free drinking water point at the event.
Cllr Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “It’s fantastic that Notts County have secured promotion and re-entered English football’s third tier for the first time since 2015. After a rollercoaster season where County missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of the season, it’s incredible to see the team secure promotion through the play offs!
“On behalf of the Council, I’d like to congratulate Martin Paterson, his players and staff, the club’s owners and board, plus the wonderful supporters who represent our proud city.
“I am looking forward to attending Tuesday’s event to celebrate with the club, and we hope many Notts County supporters, their families and city residents are able to join too.”
In anticipation of large crowds, some road closures and diversions will need to be put in place. Bus and tram services will be disrupted for a short time during the event between 2pm-4.30pm and will be subject to short notice changes.
