A further 87 homes are planned at Nottingham’s Trent Basin, with construction targeted to begin in spring 2027.
Developer Blueprint, in which Nottingham City Council is a partner, has secured a committee resolution to grant planning permission for the next phase and has begun procuring a contractor.
The riverside neighbourhood currently has 109 homes. Remaining development land has outline consent and capacity for around 50 more, with work on a detailed planning application expected to begin early next year.
Development at Trent Basin began in 2015 on the site of Nottingham’s former riverside cargo depot, where barges once delivered timber, flour and cocoa.
The expansion will follow the opening of Waterside Bridge in June, linking Trent Basin with West Bridgford near the Hook nature reserve.
The pedestrian and cycle bridge cost £18 million, double the original £9 million estimate, funded through the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund. The council says more than 130,000 pedestrian and cycle crossings have been recorded since it opened.
Waterside Primary School, originally intended to serve families in the new estate, was repurposed as a SEND facility because of low mainstream demand.
