Nottingham charity, The Renewal Trust, has teamed up with the award-winning Aardman animation studio to give local people the chance to make their very own Shaun the Sheep, Morph or Gromit character – to celebrate International Day of Happiness.
There are three Aardman Model Making Workshops on offer, one for each legendary character, and they’re all taking place at Brendon Lawrence Sports & Community Centre, 35 Hungerhill Road, St Ann’s, NG3 4NB on Saturday 21 March.
The fun, hands-on, clay modelling workshops will be led by one of Aardman’s expert model makers, so as well as learning how to make your favourite Aardman character, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and pick up the tricks of the trade from one of the world’s best known animation studios.
And that’s not all…
The Renewal Trust are also holding a FREE Family Fun Day at Brendon Lawrence Sports & Community Centre on 21 March from 10am-3pm – with activities including retro gaming, sports taster sessions, arts and crafts, fun science activities and lots more.

“We thought giving people the chance to make their very own Aardman character and join in with our free Family Fun Day would be a great way for families to celebrate International Day of Happiness, which takes place the day before on 20 March when children are at school! Characters like Shaun, Morph and Gromit have been helping people of all ages feel happy for years now, so we’re very excited to be welcoming Aardman to Nottingham.
“We’re also launching our own Into Film Club with intofilm.org in May, to give children and young people in the area the chance to watch, critique, review and make films, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to get creative at Brendon Lawrence Sports & Community Centre over the spring and summer.
