11 am – The M1 in Leicestershire is closed northbound between J18 (Rugby) and J19 (near Catthorpe) due to a multi vehicle collision.

Shortly before 9am Leicestershire Police arrived on scene following a collision involving a car and a van within J19. Shortly after Fire and Ambulance service attended and fire extracted one of the casualties from their vehicle.

To assist emergency services the closure was then moved back to J18. Fire and Ambulance service have now left the scene. Leicestershire Police remain working at the scene and recovery for the vehicles involved has been arranged.
Diversion Route
Road users are advised to follow the Solid Circle diversion symbol on road signs.
- M1 Northbound Traffic Exit the M1 at Junction 18 and take the first exit west(left) onto the A428.
- Continue along the A428 westbound to the A428/A5 Parklands Roundabout.
- At the Roundabout take the second exit onto the A5 north(dual carriageway) and continue northbound until the A5 Danesway Roundabout.
- At this roundabout take the second exit north(straight ahead) and continue along the A5 northbound to the A5/A426 Gibbets Hill Roundabout.
- Then take the second exit (north) and continue along the A5 northbound to A5/A4303 Cross in Hand Roundabout.
- At this roundabout take the fourth exit(right) onto the A4303 east.
- Continue eastbound along the A4303 passing through the roundabouts at Magna Park and Coventry Road to the A5/A426 Lutterworth Road/Rugby Road Roundabout.
- At the roundabout take the second exit(straight ahead) and continue east to M1 Junction 20.
- Then rejoin the M1 northbound.
- M6 Traffic – Use the same Diversion Route as for M1 northbound traffic until the A5/A426 Gibbets Hill Roundabout.
Then take the first exit (left) from the roundabout onto the A426 south. - Continue along the A426 southbound for approximately 2kms to the M6 Junction 1.
- Take the third exit from the Interchange and rejoin the M6 westbound.
