Road resurfacing, footpath improvements and public realm upgrades are taking place across Nottingham this month as council highways crews begin a new programme of works at multiple locations across the city.
A number of schemes are now underway or nearing completion, with a mixture of daytime and overnight road closures, lane restrictions and diversions in place while work is carried out.
Resurfacing work on Glasshouse Street is due to begin overnight, taking place on weekday evenings between 8pm and 6am. The road will be closed during working hours, with signed diversions in operation.
Elsewhere, a major resurfacing and footpath improvement scheme on Glaisdale Parkway is approaching completion following works that began in January. Overnight closures between 8pm and 6am will remain in place until 11 March while final stages are completed.
On Alfreton Road, work continues on the installation of a new pedestrian crossing alongside wider improvements aimed at upgrading the street environment. The scheme, which includes new planting areas, benches, bollards and bins, is expected to continue until the end of March. Lane closures are operating on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
Maintenance and public realm improvements are also ongoing on London Road, where weekday lane closures are in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm while crews complete upgrades.
Footpath improvement works continue along Nuthall Road, including replacement of existing pavements, cleaning of block paving, installation of new bins and maintenance of tree planting areas.
In the north of the city, resurfacing is underway on Bestwood Park Drive and Deer Park Drive, with weekday closures in place between 9.30am and 4.30pm as sections of the roads are treated.
Work is also continuing on Queens Drive, where lane closures remain in place while resurfacing works are finalised later this week.
New resurfacing schemes have begun on Strelley Road and Flaxton Way. Strelley Road is subject to weekday closures between 8am and 5pm with diversions in place, while Flaxton Way will be closed during the same hours until Friday as resurfacing is completed.
The programme forms part of ongoing highway maintenance and improvement work across Nottingham aimed at maintaining road conditions, improving pedestrian routes and upgrading public spaces. Motorists and residents are being advised to allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where closures are in place.
