Nottinghamshire County Council reports another parking meter scam in West Bridgford.
Nottinghamshire County Council who operate on-street parking in the town – with the newer parking meters said:
‘We’ve been made aware of another pay-and-display machine scam circulating in West Bridgford.
‘The previous one involved QR codes on pay machines, this time, it’s a fake notice attached to the windscreens of vehicles.
‘The team has noticed them and has been removing and destroying them.
‘The images ( main large article image ) show the fake fine notice, which is blue, and our official one, which is yellow can be seen below.
Rushcliffe Borough Council operate the off-street car parks in the borough, as opposed to on-street parking meters which are county council controlled – RBC hasn’t reported any scams in car parks, however residents should remain vigilant to QR codes and similar – these are never used by councils on parking machines as methods of payment.
QR code scams on parking machines have been reported in Newark too.

‘If you suspect you have come across a scam or QR code, please email nccparkingmanager@nottscc.gov.uk.
‘If you unfortunately proceeded to payment without realising and have lost funds, we advise contacting your bank’s fraud team, which deals with all types of scams.’
The earlier incidents were reported around the 6 February 2026 when the council said
‘Pay-and-display parking scam alert
‘Scammers are sticking fake QR payment codes on pay-and-display machines. Some were found in West Bridgford today.’
