A series of roadworks and closures across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are set to affect multiple bus services over the coming days, with diversions, stop closures and delays expected on a wide range of routes.
One of the most significant impacts will be on the A52 Derby Road, which is closed in both directions between the Queen’s Medical Centre and Priory roundabouts from 8pm on Friday 27 March until 6am on Monday 30 March. During this period, Orange 35 and 36 services are diverting via Clifton Boulevard, Beeston Road and University Boulevard, with a number of stops not served. Further overnight closures on the same stretch are also planned between 8pm and 6am from 30 March to 2 April, with similar diversions in place.
From Monday 30 March, Woodborough Road will be closed at Mapperley Rise until 10 April, affecting Sky Blue 60 and 61 services. Buses will divert via Woodthorpe Drive, Mansfield Road and The Wells Road, with no service along Woodborough Road between The Wells Road Top and the city centre.
Elsewhere, roadworks on Melton Road near Valley Road are causing delays to Green 7 services until 1 April, with the Valley Road stop towards the city closed. Gas works on Alford Road have also led to the closure of Leahurst Road stops on Green 5, 5A and 6 services.
In Chilwell, Cator Lane is closed over the weekend of 28 to 29 March, affecting service 36. Buses are diverting via High Road, School Lane and Bramcote Lane, with several stops suspended. Passengers are advised that some stops will be served earlier than scheduled on diverted routes.
Longer-term disruption continues in several areas. Westleigh Road remains closed until 2 May for Severn Trent works, affecting Turquoise 77C and 78 services, which are operating via Bradfield Road, Strelley Road and Moor Road. Improvement works at Victoria Embankment mean the Trent Bridge stop towards West Bridgford is closed until 15 April, with passengers advised to use the previous stop at Ryehill Street.
Ongoing works on the A52 between Gamston and Radcliffe-on-Trent are continuing to cause delays to Pathfinder 90 services, particularly at peak times, while additional roadworks in Southwell have closed the Lowes Wong stop until 4 April. Delays are also expected on services through Redhill from 30 March due to gas works on the A60.
Further overnight closures are planned in several locations. Percy Street in Basford will be closed from the evening of 1 April until the morning of 2 April, affecting Yellow 70 and 71 services, while Muirfield Road in Bestwood will be shut overnight on 1 and 2 April, impacting routes 79 and 88.
In Newark, London Road will be closed overnight between 30 March and 4 April, with Pathfinder 90 services diverting via Lombard Street, Castle Gate and Queens Road. A separate closure of the Cricket Ground stop on 2 April between 10am and 2.30pm will affect multiple Green Line services, with passengers advised to use Hound Road instead.
Nottingham City Transport has advised that delays are likely across affected routes and that passengers should allow extra time for journeys, particularly during peak periods and where multiple roadworks overlap.
