NET trams service update after power lines switched off due to Nottingham city fire

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has provided a service update following last night’s fire incident in the city centre that led to ongoing travel disruptions across the network.

Andy Downie, service delivery and safety director at NET, said:

“Following last night’s fire incident in the city centre, throughout today we’ve been experiencing ongoing travel disruptions across the network.

“This is due to having to turn off the overhead power lines between The Forest and Nottingham Station to allow emergency services to attend to the fire. This meant that we were unable to move a number of our trams.

“The emergency services have now reopened Market Street and we’re now in a position to be able to re-energise the powerlines and to begin recovery of the trams that had been grounded in the city centre.

“We hope to be able to reinstate full service over the coming hour. However, during this period, NCT and East Midlands Railway will still be accepting passengers with valid tram tickets for travel on NCT’s navy, yellow and orange buses, and the Bulwell, Beeston and Hucknall trains until further notice.

“We’d like to thank all our passengers for their patience and co-operation during this time, and encourage them to keep an eye on our social channels, the Nottingham Tram website and the NETGO! app for any further updates.”
