Detectives investigating an incident in Friar Gate, Derby, are appealing for witnesses and footage as enquiries continue after seven people were struck by a car.
Emergency services were called at about 9.30pm on Saturday 28 March after a black Suzuki Swift was driven at pedestrians in the busy city centre street, which was crowded with revellers at the time. All seven victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries, though none are believed to be life-threatening.
Police said some witnesses have already come forward but are urging anyone else who has not yet made contact to do so. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who captured the incident on mobile phones or CCTV, as well as drivers who may have dashcam footage showing the vehicle before or after the collision.
It is understood the car left the scene along Friar Gate heading away from the city centre towards Ashbourne Road, before continuing onto Bridge Street, Lodge Lane towards Five Lamps, Garden Street and Duffield Road, and then onto St Alkmund’s Way. The vehicle, which had visible damage, was stopped by police a short time later at Station Approach as it travelled towards Pride Park.
A 36-year-old man, who lives in Derby and is originally from India, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to contact police, quoting incident 1131 of 28 March.
