A West Bridgford woman is preparing to take on a five-day trek across the Great Wall of China in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! after crediting the organisation with helping to save her life.
She will join a group of supporters this September, including television personality Gi Fletcher, for the CoppaTrek challenge – a high-profile fundraising event that sees participants tackle one of the world’s most demanding landmarks to support the charity’s work.
The challenge comes after a deeply personal experience. She said CoppaFeel! played a crucial role in helping her detect breast cancer at an early stage, giving her the opportunity to access treatment quickly and ultimately overcome the illness.
CoppaFeel! works to encourage young people to regularly check their breasts, pecs and chests for any unusual changes, with the aim of improving early diagnosis rates. The charity focuses on building awareness, promoting body confidence, and encouraging people to seek medical advice if something does not feel right.

Now cancer-free, she is aiming to give something back by raising £4,000 through the trek. Funds raised will go towards the charity’s ongoing campaigns and education work, which aim to ensure more people recognise the signs of breast cancer early.
She said the challenge will be both physically and emotionally demanding, but hopes sharing her story will not only help her reach her fundraising target but also encourage others to check themselves regularly.
Supporters can contribute via her fundraising page as she prepares for the trek later this year.
