Two suspected drug dealers were arrested by knife crime team officers out on patrol.
The specialist team went on to seize dozens of Class A drug wraps after stopping a car.
Officers were out patrolling Bulwell on Friday (24 April) when a passing vehicle aroused their suspicions.
Believing the car was being driven without any insurance, police elected to pull it over, just after 7.20pm.
By that stage, knife crime team officers had also started to suspect there could be drugs onboard, so searched the vehicle.
That decision would ultimately result in police finding and seizing more than 30 wraps containing either crack cocaine or heroin.
Smaller quantities of cannabis were also discovered by officers during the searches.
The car’s occupants – a 25-year-old man and a 50-year-old man – were duly arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The 25-year-old suspect was additionally arrested for possessing Class B drugs, while the 50-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance.
Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our knife crime team doesn’t just focus on taking weapons off the streets, they also keep their eyes out for signs of all sorts of offending.
“On this occasion, they were in the right place to stop and search a car after initially suspecting it was being driven without insurance.
“The end result of that decision was the seizure of dozens of Class A drug wraps and the arrest of two suspects.
“As I say, while they clearly prioritise weapon-enabled crime, the team won’t hesitate to take action, should they spot anything else that doesn’t look right while out on patrol.”
