West Bridgford club presents £4,000 to air ambulance and Parkinson’s café

Bridgford Social Club has presented more than £4,000 to two charities following a year of fundraising by members and supporters.

The club held its cheque presentation evening on 1 May 2026, when representatives from Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and Trent Bridge Parkinson’s Café each received more than £2,000.

The money was raised during 2025 through a series of events and activities, including an autumn fayre, a sponsored walk, raffles and other donations. Club members and charity supporters attended the presentation evening.

Tony Heydon, a volunteer with Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, spoke about the cost of operating the service and plans to acquire a further helicopter in 2027. He thanked club members for their fundraising efforts and said every contribution helped to support the charity’s work.

He said no one ever wanted to need the air ambulance, but people were grateful to the fundraisers who helped make the service available when it was required.

Steve Moss, one of the founders of Trent Bridge Parkinson’s Café, explained the work of the café and the support it provides for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s, as well as their friends and families.

The café offers regular coffee mornings, giving people affected by the condition a place to meet others who understand its impact. It also provides ongoing advice, including information about specialist equipment that may help people living with Parkinson’s.

Club secretary Tracy Shepley thanked members for their generosity and said it had been a pleasure working with both charities. She also thanked Mr Moss and Mr Heydon on behalf of members for attending the evening.
