A drone operator, dog handler, and firearms officers combined to take a dangerous weapon off the streets and detain a suspect.
Officers were called to Titchfield Park, Hucknall, shortly before 5.30 pm on Sunday 10 April following reports that a suspect was in possession of a large knife.
A police drone operator soon spotted a suspect of interest, who immediately ran from officers on the ground, including PD Rooster and his handler.
As he was pursued by the tethered dog and handler, the suspect was tracked from the air as he ran towards Versailles Gardens, where he was eventually cornered by the dog and arrested.
A knife was later recovered from a nearby bush.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife and possession of cannabis.
Another 13-year-old boy was also arrested by firearms officers on suspicion of possession of a knife.
Inspector Chris Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a great bit of teamwork by multiple officers who combined to take a dangerous weapon off the streets and detain a fleeing suspect.
“Thanks to the drone, we were able to track the location of the suspect and record compelling evidence.
“Unwilling to risk a chase with PD Rooster, he wisely gave himself up and was arrested.”
