Holidaymaker arrested and banned by airline at East Midlands Airport after staff member assaulted

A holidaymaker was arrested at East Midlands Airport today after allegedly assaulting a member of staff when he was refused boarding.

Airport police said the man had been due to travel to Tenerife but was instead taken into custody after drinking too much before his flight.

According to officers, he was refused permission to board the aircraft and then assaulted a staff member.

Police said he was arrested by officers at the airport and has also been banned by the airline.

In a statement about the incident, airport police reminded passengers to drink responsibly before travelling and warned that disruptive behaviour can result in missed flights, arrest and airline bans.

The incident comes as airports prepare for a busy holiday period, with police and airport staff regularly urging passengers not to let alcohol affect their behaviour before boarding.
