East Midlands Railway announced the incident at 9:42 am on Sunday 17 May.
EMR said:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Bedford and Luton and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/ Nottingham/ Sheffield and London St Pancras/ Luton Airport Parkway/ Corby routes.
‘Emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. We do not have an expect time that the team are due to arrive on site.’
‘Trains running through the area between Bedford and Luton cannot run.
‘We are currently looking at how this is going to affect other services on our routes.
‘Short notice cancellations and alterations to your journey can be expected due to residual delays. Please check your journey before you travel. https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 2 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 12:00.’
