Young fox rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in water in Lenton

Firefighters rescued a young fox after it became stuck in water in Nottingham.

Crews from Stockhill Fire Station, Highfields Fire Station and Alfreton Fire Station were called to Derby Road, Lenton, earlier today after reports that the animal was in difficulty.

The fox had become trapped in water and was unable to get out without help. Firefighters worked together at the scene to reach the animal safely and bring it back onto dry land.

The fox was checked over after the rescue and was found to be unharmed. It was released back into the wild shortly afterwards.

The incident was a reminder of the varied work carried out by fire crews, who are called to a wide range of emergencies across Nottinghamshire and the wider region, including animal rescues where specialist help is needed.

A fire service spokesperson thanked the crews involved, saying they were there for their community “no matter what shape, size or species”.
