A former teacher abused his position of trust to groom two students at the school where he worked.
Patrick Thomas, aged 37, who was known at the time as Josh Mills-Afford, admitted sexual offences against the two teenage girls who he taught at a Nottingham school.
An investigation was launched by Nottinghamshire Police after the first victim came forward in January 2025 and disclosed to other teachers what had happened.
It was revealed Thomas had engaged in sexual activity with the girl on multiple occasions during December 2024 and January 2025.
The second victim also came forward to report how he had abused her between February 2022 and January 2023 while she was aged under 18.
Thomas, of Blake Road, West Bridgford, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.
He also admitted one count of making an indecent image of a child.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (21 May) he was sentenced to 22 months in jail.
Thomas was also handed seven-year restraining orders which will ban him from contacting either victim and must sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Detective Constable Toby Marsh, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Thomas was in a position of trust at the time of these offences, and he abused this status to target these victims.
“I’d like to pay tribute to the courage they have shown throughout our investigation. This strength has meant that Thomas has been held accountable for his traumatic offending.
“I also hope this sentence gives encouragement to any other survivors of abuse to come forward. We will treat them with sensitivity and respect, we will investigate and do everything in our power to seek justice for them.”
