Man charged after intruder helps himself to food during Nottingham burglary

Officers investigating a Nottingham house burglary where an intruder helped themselves to food have charged a suspect.

Police were notified around 6.05 pm on 25 May after hearing a break-in was in progress in Rawson Street, Radford.

Cash was taken from the house, while the perpetrator also ate food from the property’s kitchen before going back outside.

Officers responding to the report arrived at the scene soon afterwards and found and arrested a suspect nearby.

Sean Dobson, 36, has since been charged with burglary and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (27 May), where he was bailed with strict conditions.

He is next due to attend Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on 30 June, where he will enter a plea.

Dobson, of Manvers Street, Sneinton, will also enter a plea that day for a separate burglary charge and multiple counts of criminal damage.

The break-in related to an incident on 17 April, where an individual stole items after gaining access to the staff room within McDonald’s in Park Lane, Mansfield.

Dobson was identified as a suspect in that incident, while he was also charged with criminal damage after multiple cars were damaged in Nottingham on 24 and 25 May.

Sergeant Amar Toor, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Burglary in all its forms, whether to a home address or a business property, is completely unacceptable and can cause great distress to those affected.

“We’re therefore pleased to have now charged a suspect in relation to these two break-ins, along with separate reports of criminal damage.

“Our hope is that news of this police action provides some reassurance to the public.”
