A suspect has appeared in court after a man suffered serious injuries following a stabbing in a beer garden.
Police were called to the Manvers Arms pub, Main Street, Radcliffe-on-Trent, around 5.30pm on Sunday (31 May).
A man, in his 30s, suffered a stab wound to the stomach and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Graham Butterworth, of Queens Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent, has now been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place and was remanded into police custody.
The 48-year-old is due to appear in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (2 June).
Detective Inspector Ian Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a very serious assault that has left the victim in hospital with severe injuries.
“Knife crime can have a devastating impact on people’s lives, which is why we devote so much time and effort to taking knives off the streets and preventing incidents of violence from happening in the first place.
“Our team of investigators have worked extremely hard over the past two days to gather evidence, and I am pleased we have placed a suspect before the courts today.
“I would also like to thank the local community for their assistance which has enabled us to progress this investigation.”
