Nearly £300m of funding for transport improvements across the East Midlands has been approved, including schemes in West Bridgford and Nottingham.
The East Midlands Combined County Authority board approved a further £298m from the Mayoral Transport Fund for projects across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Among the Nottinghamshire schemes earmarked for funding are improvements to cycling and walking routes in Lady Bay / Cyril Road and Mabel Grove junctions.
The projects form part of a wider programme intended to improve public transport, walking and cycling links, bus infrastructure and real-time travel information across the region.
Mayor of the East Midlands Claire Ward said the funding would help create “a reliable, safe, and accessible transport network” by improving key bus routes, upgrading bus stops and stations, and enhancing active travel networks.
She said: “Transport is a key part of everyone’s daily lives, and for too long, our communities and businesses have had to contend with a transport network that was holding them back.
“By working with our partners across the region, we are building a network that works well as one system and supports the East Midlands to thrive.”
The wider programme includes new electric buses, upgraded bus stations and shelters, safer walking and cycling routes, and improved travel information across the region.
