An investigation into a road rage incident allowed police to arrest a suspected drug dealer.
Officers were called to Front Street, Arnold, at around 4.40 pm on Thursday (11 June) following reports that a couple had been threatened with a knife.
A man had verbally abused the two victims, a man and a woman, before showing them the handle of the weapon after a row about a parking space.
Officers were able to trace the suspect’s vehicle and arrested him when he was located at a flat in Arnold a short time later.
On entering the property to search for the knife, officers found cannabis in deal bags, weighing scales and other drug paraphernalia.
They also recovered a knife and a quantity of cash.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of a knife in a public place, and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.
Inspector Steven King, local area commander for Gedling, said:
“Any report of a weapon being brandished in the street is taken very seriously and will always lead to further investigation.
“Officers called to the initial incident were able to recover the knife believed to have been used to threaten the two victims, and this will be destroyed.
“These thorough enquiries also led to the seizure of drugs and evidence that cannabis was being prepared for sale at the property.”
