Firefighters were called to a fire involving building waste behind a pub in Brinsley after a smaller fire accidentally spread.
Eastwood fire crews were mobilised following reports of a fire in the open to the rear of the Durham Ox pub.
On arrival, firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming from building waste inside a secure compound.
The fire service said the blaze had accidentally spread from a small fire within the same location.
Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and remained at the scene to make sure the area was fully extinguished.
Following the incident, firefighters issued a reminder about the risks of lighting fires close to combustible materials.
They said: “Even small fires can quickly spread to nearby combustible materials.
“If you are burning wood or garden waste, always ensure fires are controlled, supervised and well away from surrounding combustible materials.”
