Nottingham International Market returns to Old Market Square with food and gifts from around the world

Nottingham’s International Market is taking place in Old Market Square this week, bringing a range of street food, arts, crafts and gifts from around the world to the city centre.

The five-day event, organised by Market Place Europe, opened on Wednesday 7 October and continues until Sunday 11 October, with free entry for visitors.

The market features traders offering a selection of international products, including jewellery, clothing, fairtrade wooden carvings, handmade ceramics and olive wood items.

Food is a major part of the event, with stalls serving dishes from across Europe and further afield.

Visitors can choose from Sicilian chicken and rice cooked in large pans, Swedish meatballs, Greek gyros, kebabs, pita bread and pies, Mexican food, falafel and shawarma.

There will also be a selection of meats, including kangaroo and venison, alongside traditional burgers.

Other stalls will offer bakery products, olives, baklava, cheeses, salami, Turkish nuts and rice.

For those looking for something sweet, options include French crêpes, churros, gelato, sorbets, fruit smoothies, snow cones, cheesecake, sweets and fudge.

A bar serving continental beers and wines will also be available for visitors wishing to sit and enjoy the atmosphere in Old Market Square.

The International Market is open from 10am until 7pm each day, with the bar remaining open until 8pm.

The event continues throughout Thursday 8 October, Friday 9 October, Saturday 10 October and Sunday 11 October.

Admission is free, with visitors able to browse the stalls without purchasing a ticket.
