A man who hugged and kissed a woman inappropriately at work has been found guilty.
Timothy Smith, 66 years, who was based at Holbeach Police Station, has been sentenced for an offence of sexual touching.
He was found guilty after a trial at Nottinghamshire Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 April, he was fined £1200.
Smith denied the allegations that at Spalding police station on 9 May 2025, he hugged a woman from behind and went onto kiss her forehead. He had asked about arrangements for the next day, by using the term “What’s the foreplay for tomorrow”.
His actions were witnessed by others in the same room.
Smith was fined £1200 and must pay CPS costs of £650 and a surcharge of £480
Smith is a former police volunteer and cadet leader and has resigned from both positions.
The offence does not relate to a young person or person connected to the Volunteer Police Cadet programme.
