Appeal after sexual assault on a Nottingham train

British Transport Police officers are appealing for the victim of a sexual assault to contact them. 

On Monday 8 May, a 25-year-old man was arrested at Manchester Piccadilly station, following reports from witnesses that a sexual assault had taken place on the 6.44 pm East Midlands Railway service from Nottingham to Manchester.

It is believed the sexual assault occurred shortly before 8:30 pm when the train was travelling between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly stations.

The victim left the station before officers attended and they are keen to speak to her about what happened.

Investigating officer DC Matt Morrison said: “Officers met the train at Manchester Piccadilly after receiving reports from people travelling on the service that a man had sexually assaulted a woman.

“All victims of sexual offences are given full anonymity and will be supported by specially trained police officers.

“If you witnessed this assault, or if it happened to you, please do contact us and our officers will be able to help.”
