“This would have been a distressing incident for the member of the public who reported this and anyone else who witnessed what happened.

“We take all reports of anyone possessing a weapon extremely seriously and we immediately deployed armed officers to the scene of the incident to ensure people were safe.

“We would like to hear from anyone else who witnessed what happened, but particularly anyone that saw a man in a grey hooded top and black trousers chasing a man with a dog.”
