Armed response officers arrested a man and recovered a lock knife in Nottingham city centre yesterday after a foot chase.
Police were called to Woodstock Avenue at around 11.50 am yesterday (17 March) after a man was reported to have been held against his will by another man. He was also believed to be in possession of a knife.
The man was reported to have forced the other man into hiring a car. The car was then located by automatic number plate recognition and police were deployed to investigate.
When officers intercepted the car in Gregory Boulevard, a 26-year-old man fled the car and a foot chase followed.
After a short chase, the man was safely detained by officers and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Police Sergeant Christian Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are committed to tackling knife crime and will investigate all reports made to us.
“We recovered a lock knife as part of our investigation, these are incredibly dangerous and can have fatal consequences.”
“I’d appeal to anyone with any information or dashcam footage in connection with this incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible on 101 quoting incident number 321 of 17 March 2020.”
