A 32-year-old man has been arrested after police stopped a car following reports of suspected dangerous driving in Wollaton and Broxtowe.
Police said an Audi S3 was first seen by response officers on patrol in Wollaton at around 11.10pm on Monday 25 May.
Officers suspected the driver may have been under the influence and began following the vehicle after it was seen overtaking another car at speed.
The Audi was followed for a short distance along Nottingham Road, but officers lost sight of it near Trowell Services. Details of the vehicle were then circulated over the police radio.
Around an hour later, the same officers saw the Audi again in Trowell Road, Wollaton. Police said the vehicle again appeared to speed away from them.
Armed policing officers then took over the pursuit, following the vehicle with blue lights along Glaisdale Drive West.
Police said the Audi was seen travelling at high speed over an area with speed bumps before clipping a kerb on the wrong side of the road and nearly losing control.
The vehicle, which had sustained damage to one of its tyres, stopped in Eltham Drive, Broxtowe.
The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.
Police said he was also required to complete a roadside drugs wipe, which detected traces of cannabis. He was further arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
Inspector Chris Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said officers had responded after a car was seen being driven erratically.
He said: “This was a potentially dangerous incident, which our policing teams responded to and safely resolved.”
