A pair of suspects were arrested and two knives were seized after police intercepted a suspected stolen moped.
Authorised firearms officers (AFOs) on routine patrol spotted two people on the bike in Mansfield Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, shortly after midnight on Thursday 18 September.
During a brief pursuit the rider mounted a pavement and attempted to drive down an alleyway – only to find the way blocked by a police car.
Both rider and passenger attempted to flee on foot but were quickly detained by officers in Mapleton Road.
A large machete, a lock-knife and a small amount of cannabis were recovered.
An 18 year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft, failing to stop, possessing a Class B dug, and weapons offences.
The older man was also arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
Inspector Chris Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Further inquiries suggested this bike had been legally purchased in the recent past.
“However, given the drugs and weapons we found on these two suspects it wasn’t surprising they were so keen to get away.
“Thanks to an excellent bit of work by the officers involved both were swiftly detained and two dangerous weapons were taken off the streets.”
