Detectives investigating a serious assault outside a Nottingham music venue have arrested a suspect.
Emergency services were called to The Nest, in Iremonger Road, at 12.30am on Monday (31 August) following reports the man had been attacked outside a rave event.
The victim, aged in his 40s, was punched once to the head and knocked unconscious by another man who then fled from the scene.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for serious head injuries, and he remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
A team of detectives have carried out extensive CCTV and other inquiries, as well as issuing a public appeal for information.
As a result of these investigations, a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Kate Hyde, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our victim remains seriously ill in hospital and his family is being supported and updated on our investigation.
“We have made significant progress and this arrest is an important step.
“However, we still want to hear from anyone with information who has not yet given an account to officers.
“We know there were several hundred people in attendance at the event and believe there will have been a significant number of witnesses.
