Detectives investigating reports of a city centre fight have made two arrests as their enquiries continue.

Officers were quickly on scene after being called to the disturbance in Angel Row, Nottingham, shortly after 4.15pm on Tuesday (26 April 2022).

Following enquiries, an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a knife in a public place.

No-one is believed to have been seriously injured during the incident.

Police Constable Matthew Dickinson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We believe this incident involved two people and we’re not currently looking for anyone else in connection with it.

“As these arrests show, the force treats reports of violence and knife crime extremely seriously and we will always take swift action to investigate and track down suspects.

“The consequences of carrying a knife can be devastating which is why the force continues to work hard every day to tackle the issue and target people who carry weapons on our streets as well as focusing on proactive work with partners to prevent weapon-enabled crime and violence from happening in the first place.

“We remain determined to drive down knife crime in our communities and the public’s continued support is key to helping us to achieve our goal.

“I’d like to thank members of the public who have been in touch and assisted us with our investigation.

“While we have made two arrests we would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage which could assist us with our ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 486 of 26 April 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
