Arrest after pedestrian suffers life-changing injuries in Castle Donington collision

A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian has been left seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Castle Donington.

Shortly before 9.30pm last night (Sunday 7 September), officers on proactive patrol came across a road traffic collision in Arundel Avenue involving a black VW Golf and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his thirties, has been taken to hospital. He is receiving treatment for what is believed to be life changing injuries.

The driver, a man aged 24, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The road was currently closed as emergency services respond at the scene and has since reopened.

An investigation into the incident has begun and remains at an early stage as we carry out our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
