Arrest after stolen motorcycle crashes in Ruddington

Two teenagers were arrested and a knife and BB gun seized after a collision between a stolen motorcycle and a car.

Emergency services were called to Flawforth Avenue, Ruddington, at 8.24pm on Saturday (17 October) following reports two youths had fled following the crash.

The driver of the car gave an account to officers at the scene and an area search was carried out.

Two suspects were located in Larkspur Drive, sat on some bins and complaining of injury.

Officers found the BB gun and a lock knife discarded nearby.

Checks revealed the motorbike had been stolen five days earlier from an address in Clifton, Nottingham.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm, failing to stop after a road accident, driving without a licence or insurance, possession of a knife in a public place and theft of a motor vehicle.

They were also given medical treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, local area commander for Rushcliffe, said:

“Officers responded quickly to this collision, allowing us to arrest two suspects and recover a stolen motorbike, knife and an imitation firearm.

“Motorcycle theft is an issue for police forces across the country and I’d urge people locally to take every possible precaution to avoid the theft of their bikes.

“We’re grateful to the car driver and a number of members of the public who assisted at the scene.”
