A fundraising appeal has been launched to help a young family in Ruddington rebuild their lives after a fire caused severe damage to their home, destroying their belongings and leaving them in temporary accommodation.
Emily, her partner and their young daughter were asleep when a fire broke out at their home on Cornflower Crescent in the early hours of Monday 5 October.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the property at 4.14am, with crews from Highfields, East Leake and West Bridgford attending the incident.

Fourteen firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, which started on the ground floor of the two-storey house.
The fire service said a second-hand electric scooter battery had exploded, causing extensive damage to the property.
Three people were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre suffering from smoke inhalation, although no serious injuries were reported.

According to a fundraising appeal set up to support the family, the fire spread rapidly from the living room through the house, leaving them with virtually none of their possessions.
Furniture, clothing, personal keepsakes and everyday essentials were among the belongings destroyed.

The family have since been placed in temporary accommodation while they face the task of rebuilding their lives.
The situation is particularly difficult as Emily is expecting her second child in January, and the family say everything they had already purchased and prepared for the baby’s arrival has also been lost.
The organiser of the fundraising appeal said: “What should have been a time of resting, nesting and preparing for her little one was all taken away in one evening.”
The appeal aims to help the family replace essential belongings, meet everyday living costs, secure suitable housing and prepare for the arrival of their baby.
The organiser added: “There is an enormous road ahead of them, and we know a fundraiser cannot undo what happened. But if it can take even a small amount of the financial pressure away and help them begin rebuilding their home and their lives, it would mean more to us than words can express.”
The family and those supporting them have expressed their relief that all three occupants escaped without serious injuries.
The appeal states: “Their home can eventually be rebuilt. Possessions can eventually be replaced. We’re just incredibly grateful that the people inside it are still here.”
