Arrest in the Meadows on knife possession allegations after man seen with crack pipe

Police arrested a man in The Meadows after spotting a crack pipe.

Police said:

‘Following a pro-active stop on Arkwright Street in the Meadows area of Nottingham yesterday afternoon, officers from the City Centre Operation Compass team searched a male having seen him with a ‘crack’ pipe.’

‘The male was found to be in possession of a knife and was arrested.

A 34-year-old man from Nottingham was charged with possession of a bladed article and bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on the 18 November.

Sergeant Whitehead who leads the team said: “We will not tolerate knife crime in Nottinghamshire and we are working hard to drive down this type of offending.

“Knife crime can have a devastating impact on the community and every knife taken off the street is one too many.

“This is another great spot and arrest by the team and we will continue our efforts to target habitual knife carriers as well as trying to educate and raise awareness of the obvious dangers involved in carrying a knife”
