Burglars ransacked Nottingham home stealing sentimental jewellery and high-value goods

Detectives are investigating a high-value burglary where thousands of pounds of items have been stolen including a sentimental piece of jewellery.

Officers are calling on the public’s help to ensure those responsible are caught and brought to justice.

They are releasing a picture of the stolen jewellery in the hope that someone in the community has seen it or been approached to buy it.

The incident happened at a property in Colchester Road in Strelley and was reported to police on Friday 2 April.

Other items stolen from the property include two televisions, a Samsung and OPPO tablet, a coffee maker, steam iron, two Michael Kors handbags, a 21 Carat gold bracelet and gold ring, five coats and a red dress, three boxed heaters, an air fryer and a number of boxed perfumes.

Burglars also stole their garden shed.

Officers are carrying out a number of lines of inquiry to track those responsible including forensics, CCTV work and house to house inquiries.

Detective Constable Louise Turton, who is part of the investigations team, said:

“This incident has understandably caused a great deal of fear, distress and anxiety to the homeowners. They returned from a trip aboard to find that burglars had ransacked their home.

“We believe this crime was committed by a group who made continuous trips to the property to ensure they could ransack them of most of their belongings.

“This included sentimental family jewellery (pictured) which cannot be replaced and has left its owner heartbroken.

“Burglary is such a callous and despicable crime, and we are absolutely determined to ensure those who committed this offence are caught and face the justice system.

“We are already progressing our investigation at speed and carrying out a number of lines of inquiry.

“We have released a picture of the family jewellery today in the hope that the public will help assist us with our investigation.

“Have you seen this piece of jewellery? Were you approached by anyone trying to sell you this piece of jewellery? Have you bought this piece of jewellery?

“The same goes for the items stolen from the property. Do you know of someone in the community who has tried to sell you any of these items listed?

“Any help with our investigation would be much appreciated to ensure we get justice for the family affected by this deeply upsetting crime.

“The family affected by this crime no longer want to live in their property due to what these individuals have put them through. No one should have to feel like that in their own home and we urge the public to report any information you have to us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident number 0524 of the 2nd April 2025 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
