A car stop by specialist knife crime officers resulted in a blade and drugs being discovered.
The county knife crime team were on patrol in Nottingham city centre when they spotted a vehicle that aroused their suspicions.
Following this sighting on Mansfield Road at around 10 p.m. on 29 September, officers pulled the car over and carried out a search.
A large ‘Rambo-style’ knife was subsequently seized from one of the people inside the vehicle, while officers also found quantities of cannabis, large quantities of cash and a baseball bat.
Oba Julius-Adewuyi, 22, of Old Basford, was later charged with possessing a knife in a public place. He has since been released on bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 17 October.
Two men, aged 24 and 25, were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Both have been released on conditional bail.
Sergeant Jonny Groves, of Nottinghamshire Police’s county knife crime team, said:
“Taking knives and other offensive weapons off the streets is our main goal as a team when we leave the station to go out on our daily patrols.
“This proactive policing technique has been very effective over the years in helping us zero in on those we suspect could be knife carriers, while also helping identify other types of criminality too, including drug activity.”
